Hi! Welcome to my Craft Blog!
I’m a Mom of three, which means I looked through 100 photos and couldn’t find any which were just of me, or if I could, it was out of focus because my husband took it. This family photo from last year is about as good as it’s going to get of the crew. It’s actually not to bad either, I think everyone is looking at the camera. Way to go random stranger who took the photo-you rocked!
Messy Craft Life
I started knitting during a pretty heart-broken time in my life. All of our friends were getting pregnant and having babies, and try as we might, we weren’t expanding our family. Month after month went by and I was beginning to find that instead of growing a baby- I was growing resentment, anger and hatred in my heart to every newly pregnant friend I had. I needed a creative outlet to work through my feelings- so I learned to knit.
A lot of scarves and baby blankets were made during our three years of infertility. As you may have noticed from the picture above, life changed. We now have three rambunctious kids and have had the joy of travel.
The Craft habits grow
After years of knitting, I really started looking at how quick the crochet patterns seemed to come together. How many shapes they can make.
And I realized I wanted to learn how to chain too. So I taught my self how to crochet, and have happily enjoyed my hooks and my needles pretty equally.
But I wasn’t happy with just the fiber arts. I found that I have a joy for digital creations, and a friend introduced me to the Silhouette Cameo. Oh, if it didn’t just complete my entire craft world!
We pack up and move every few years, thanks to my husband job. As much as it’s a hassle, this life style has come with a lot of blessings as well. We’ve enjoyed the hospitality of the South, the Artistic lifestyle in the Pacific Northwest, the laid back pace of the Bay in California along with the amazing warmth and love of Japan.
Every where we go, I hear people say the same things to me- over and over
Gosh I wish I knew how to do that!”
I’ve always wanted to learn that, but never could.”
That has always made me sad- everyone should be able to craft. It has brought such healing to my heart, to be able to create something that was in my mind with yarn, or wood and paint. I want you to have that too, and this blog was born.
What you can find here
If you start digging around my website you’ll find craft inspiration. Under the blog tab, you can find messy life, messy patterns- messy crafts! I have pictures and write up of locations we’ve visited, in case your path ever happens to follow mine. Places like Disneyland, or hiking trails. Patterns for your Silhouette, or your needles and hook are in the blog as well. Just basic life lived out in written form.
In the Paint Together Tab you’ll find my initiation to you. If you live near where I do, I’d love to come over and host a Paint Party with you and your friends! Because, even if you don’t feel like a Messy Crafter- you can create beautiful art for your walls.
